Analysis-in-Place Experience for EOSDIS Users in the Cloud Christopher Lynnes
Dr. Lynnes is going to talk about facilitating an Analysis-in-Place experience for EOSDIS users in the cloud. With accelerating data volumes of satellite data, the prevailing model of download-to-analyze threatens to become unsustainable. To mitigate this, NASA is hosting EO data in the cloud and working on features to help users execute analyses in the same cloud, obviating the need for users to move and manage massive datasets. However, this requires reimagining the User Experience for the from data search through preprocessing, and even usage.
Insights on “All Things Data” – Partnering with your CDO at DOC
Thomas Beach
As the interim Chief Data Officer (CDO) at the Department of Commerce, Thomas Beach provides strategic direction and guidance in the implementation of the Federal Data Strategy and Data Governance in addition to leading the Commerce Data Governance Board (CDGB). This is an opportunity to gain deeper understanding and insights on the Office of the Chief Data Officer’s (OCDO) vision on carrying out the Agency-Specific Actions of the Federal Data Strategy and OCDO’s perspective on data management with a particular focus to the NOAA mission and the environmental data management community. Also, in response to the tidal wave of data – how can we put data to work? Examples of how to put data to work from experience as the Chief Data Strategist at the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) will be presented.
