In the last year, NESDIS has made significant progress in demonstrating and adopting an enterprise approach to cloud adoption. Avoiding the lift-and-shift approach in which existing systems are migrated to the cloud independently, NESDIS has instead been systematically prototyping and deploying into operations an enterprise framework to support all of its mission goals, including data ingest, science development, operational product generation, data access, and long-term archive. The first operational phase was completed in March along with the first set of pilot projects. Currently, the second operational phase and the second set of pilots are underway. This session will review the progress made to date and solicit feedback from stakeholders - including the broader NOAA data management community - on both near-term and longer-term directions.
